Julie Brosselin and Ivo Ferreira started Les Cigales dans la Fourmilière in 2016, farming scattered, high organic parcels in the stony Larzac foothills above Montpeyroux in the Languedoc. Julie trained at Le Petit Domaine de Gimios; Ivo worked alongside Jean-Marc Brignot and Château Le Puy. Their goal is freshness and lift rather than the heat the Languedoc is known for: native-yeast ferments, old large barrels, no fining or filtering, and sulfur only if needed.
Marée Basse ("low tide") is a co-ferment of Grenache Noir with Grenache Blanc and Muscat à Petits Grains — a light, chillable red with wild strawberry, red cherry and cranberry, a little white pepper and garrigue, bright acidity and barely-there tannin. In magnum, it's a table-sharing bottle.
